His real name was Rodolfo Guzman Huerta he was born in 1917 and is recognized as one of Mexico’s cultural and sports icon. Although he went by many nicknames, after 1942 “El santo” became his permanent character name.
He was in more than 50 movies, had his own comic books, had his own toys, shirts, mask, etc. He was recognized for someone who fights for justice, a hero, and an icon.
He was rarely seen without his mask in public both in and out of the ring. He was so dedicated to his Characters that he asked to be barried with his mask. Shortly after he reteired, he passed away. After his death the legends name lived on through his son who took the nickname “El hijo del Santo” and through being named a legacy in the WWE hall of fame.
