Lucha Libre Mexicana

(Mexican Wrestling)

A little background knowledge

Inspired by Greco-Roman wrestling “Lucha libre” began around 1863 and became popular around 1930’s when the first completion was made. It was extremely popular (mostly in the middle class) until the 70s, when it was banned from television because it was to violent and people feared their morals were a bad influence on kids . During this time period the sport depended on movies and live events to stay relevant.

Lucha libre made it to the states through the ECW (which was shut down by the WWE) and the WCW.

Relies more on acríbate than physical strength/appearance.
